To celebrate this heritage home with historical significance in Vancouver’s West End, we committed to honouring the historical significance of the Colonial Revival / Edwardian style throughout the course of this careful renovation. We removed the existing apartment on the attic floor and added two bathrooms to the second floor, converting the house back to a single-family dwelling. Added a walk-out to a private backyard sitting area as well as a courtyard was added to frame the ample front yard, an idyllic space to enjoy al fresco cocktails from the covered porch or plant a garden. Modifications to the existing hipped roof kept the original features, increasing the size of the dormers to extend the attic’s ceiling height. We meticulously preserved all original custom woodwork, such as the dentil coursing and knee braces, which were reused for the exterior construction
