  • Mike Freedman, Director of Business Development, Hi Fi Centre

    Mike Freedman is a Soundscaper and the Audio Insider.  A lifelong music lover and passionate advocate for amazing sound, Mike has spent most of his life helping others fall in love with music and to listen better.

    By day Mike is the director of business development at Hi Fi Centre, one of North America’s leading technology purveyors. He also is the founder of Audio Insider – a company dedicated to advocacy and education of technology.

    He is a proud and very active member of the Vancouver Homebuilders Association, sitting on 2 committees and the creator or Rock the House – a CPD credit course about technology in the home.

    Prior to joining the team at Hi Fi Centre Mike spend over a decade building the Sonos brand in Canada and is one of the founding fathers of Sonos Canada.  He has worked over 30 different audio brands including Beats, Sennheiser, Polk Audio, Tannoy, Parasound, Integra, Monster and many others.

    As a surprise to nobody, Mike is a passionate audiophile and loves listening to all types of music and sharing it with as many people as possible. Residing in South Surrey, Mike is married with 3 young kids, 2 black labs and a grumpy cat. He is an avid boater, loves the outdoors and enjoys cooking southern style low and slow BBQ!

  • Babak Nikraftar, Director of Construction, Project Mint Developments

    Babak has been versed in the Vancouver construction & property development sector since 2001. After completing his BCIT B.Tech in Construction Management, he started his career working as a technician on the remediation of “leaky condos”, exposing him to the consequences of failed construction methods/details.

    Babak then followed his passion for design and creativity which lead him to work on new-build high-rises and condominiums. Employed by Cressey Developments & Mosaic Homes, his roles spanned from site superintendent to handing out the keys of a customer’s new home. This exposed Babak to all the steps involved in property development, from land acquisition to project delivery.

    In 2014, Babak took the initiative and gambled on his skill set and contacts to team up with an architectural colleague and formed Project Mint Developments: a boutique-builder/developer that designs and builds sustainable performance homes. In this short time period, Project Mint has managed to be recognized for Georgie & Ovation Awards. A former member of the U40 Committee himself, Babak continues to remain active in various HAVAN forums.

  • Katerina Vastardis & Silvie Pantsios, Owners, Designs by Katerina & Silvie

    Together as a team, we bring dream projects to life. From renovations to new construction, our focus is in the home; kitchen and bath.   • Elton Donald, Partner, Kerr Construction & Design

    Elton Donald is a partner and long-time employee of Kerr Construction and Design. He began working for the company back in ‘91 as a labourer and worked his way up through the ranks to ownership in 2005. As a ticketed red seal journeyman with 20+ years of experience in the construction industry, Elton’s vast hands-on knowledge is essential to the growth and prosperity of the company. As the lead sales representative, he has been key in developing the Kerr Sales Process.   • Meme Brooks, Founder, Meme Brooks Design

    Often referred to as “the non-diva-decorator”, Meme Brooks has been sharing her sense of style and infectious enthusiasm for decorating and staging properties across Canada for more than 10 years. Her passion comes from working closely with clients to make sure that their personality and aspirations are embodied in their new space.

    The rave reviews of happy clients mean more to Meme than anything else, however she’s also proud to have been featured as a Pro Designer in Western’s Living’s Condo Living magazine on multiple occasions. In addition to decorating homes, condos and much more, she has also worked on big projects such as the BC Children’s Lottery Condo. There is no space too big or too small for Meme to work her magic!

  • Meysam Pourkaram, Founder, Enzo Design Build

    Meysam is the founder & one of the project managers at Enzo Design Build.

    Growing up in a family of construction business owners, and armed with a Civil Engineering degree, Meysam found it more interesting to get his feet dirty at job-sites, working closely with trades & project managers in the multi family residential sector.

    He pursued his professional education at BCIT earning a Diploma of Building technology and Bachelor of Project Management in which he was awarded an honorable membership & bursary from the BC Construction round-table, in addition to winning 2nd place for most accurate bid completion for BCIT in Canada.

    Steve is living his passion as President/Owner of Kemp Construction which he started in 2006.  The company is an award winning residential custom home and renovation company committed to high performance construction.  He’s always looking ahead at home building technology. With tight labour markets and the new Step Code requirements Steve sees the future in pre-fabricating performance custom homes. He’s working now with Baywest Manufacturing to bring this technology to Western Canada.  He is also Vice Chair of the HAVAN Renovation Council and a member of the HAVAN Education Committee.

    Ian Moes, Partner, Kuhn LLP

    Ian is a partner with the law firm Kuhn LLP. Kuhn LLP is the preferred legal supplier of the Homebuilders Association Vancouver. They have a team of lawyers with extensive experience in the construction industry. Ian serves a broad range of clients, including developers, builders, renovators, trades, suppliers, architects, engineers and government entities.

    Each year Kuhn LLP and Ian present seminars on Contracts, Builders Liens, and Employment Law for the Homebuilders Association. Since 1998, they have been the creators and instructors of the Construction Law Course that is part of the CHBA-BC Certified Residential Builder Program.

  • Nick Petrie, Draft On Site

    Nick is the Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) for Draft On Site Services and is generally the public face of the company. Nick’s job is to develop an understanding of projects so that he can then develop a high-level specification as to what will be necessary to complete the Plans for a project. This

    Nick graduated from the UBC Sauder School of Business for Project Management, has taken numerous Building Science courses and is currently completing his Certification as a Passive House Designer. Nick’s background covers a diverse number of fields ranging from Renovations, Building Science and Design to Banking, Business Analysis and Project Management to Computer Animation and Quality Assurance Analysis.

    Nick is a Generalist in the true sense of the term and tries to stay on top of a number of related fields. Due to this Draft On Site has been asked to provide feedback to several Cities on Zoning and By-Laws related to Design & Construction and Nick now sits on the City of North Vancouver’s Advisory Design Panel as the Construction Representative.
