About The Event
The Designer’s Council is excited to be hosting their Fall Social! Isolated over the last 18 months due to the pandemic, connections and mentorship are front and center on the agenda!
Join us for an informative session discussing the values and benefits of good mentorship and the potential outcomes for both mentors and mentees. If you think you are too old or too busy or don’t believe you need to find a mentor – think twice.
Guest speaker Ankit Sharma, Founder and CEO of Kitply Industries has been both a mentee and mentor notes ‘we can only teach ourselves so much! Another person who has walked the path before you could have learned and experienced things that you still haven’t figured out.’

Ankit shares personal experience on: Breaking down Mentorship. What are the benefits? What makes a good mentor/mentee? What are the expectations in a formal Mentor/Mentee relationship?

Attendees will move between breakout rooms to network, and explore the concept and benefits of mentorship. Guest speaker will move between breakout rooms.

Ankit Sharma
Ankit Sharma is Founder and CEO of Kitply Industries. Founded in 2010, Kitply is the award-winning wholesale distributor of hardware and plywood to cabinet manufacturers and designers. Offering an extensive selection of over 20,000 products, it is one of the industry’s fastest-growing wholesale distributors. Passionate about personal and professional growth, Antik has mentored and been mentored many times over the years, bringing a wealth of knowledge on the subject matter. Check out his blog post.
Jamie Banfield
Recognized by the National Kitchen and Bath Association as one of the industry’s top 30 Under 30 in North America, ‘One to Watch’ by Western Living Magazine, and a Finalist for the Robert Ledingham Memorial – Emerging Designer Of The Year Award Jamie instills confidence in his team that they are exactly where they should be; fully emerged in the design and constrain world.
Formally trained in interior design, with a complementary background in construction, and custom millwork, Jamie adds an experience of understanding of the total design process to each project. As a transplant to Canada and the Pacific Northwest from Wales, UK at the age of eleven, Jamie fell in love with the West Coast surrounds, and over the years a passion for the surroundings has inspired JBD residential projects.
In addition to time spent as the principal designer at JBD, Jamie lends his talent to televise outlets, design publications, lifestyle talk shows, and trade shows including, but not limited to: Global TV, CTV, Vancouver, CTV Edmonton, CTV Calgary, That Talk Show, The Marc + Mandy Show, the International KBIS Show, plus home shows across the Pacific Northwest in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and Tacoma, Washington.
