Women’s Council Café – What Does it Take to “Raise the Bar”?

Join the Women’s Council on Wednesday, January 26 for a casual online moderated conversation discussing what it takes to raise the bar in the workplace.
Moderated by Women’s Council member Vanessa Pfannenschmidt of Diamondback Enterprise Group, guest speakers Stefanie Coleman, Chief Sustainability Officer, Doug Tarry Homes & Owner of Pretty Smart Homes, and Claudia Duffield, President/Owner of Dell Anno Home Design, will share their viewpoints from positions within senior management, with a focus on sharing ideas including:
- Using sustainable design/methods
- Creating intangible leadership work environments to pull everyone up
- Climbing the ladder, getting to where they are in their careers coming from diverse backgrounds, moving into leadership positions.
This free online event is open to members and industry, compliments of HAVAN’s Women’s Council. Registration is required to gain access to the online link (to be emailed the day before the event).
Established in 2018, the purpose of HAVAN’s Women’s Council is to engage, encourage, and empower women within the residential construction industry.

Event Speakers
Stefanie Coleman
Stefanie started her career in construction in 2005 as a self-employed renovation contractor. Over the years she completed numerous building science training courses and earned a number of certifications including BCIN-House, Certified Energy Advisor, HRAI Residential Air Systems Design Technician, Thermographer, and Radon Measurement and Mitigation. Most recently she is completing her Master of Environment and Business at the University of Waterloo. Before joining Doug Tarry Homes as Chief Sustainability Officer, she served as Marketing and Business Development Manager for Building Knowledge Canada, a leading building science consulting firm that helps Canadian home builders to design and construct sustainable homes people love to live in.
Stefanie has been a strong advocate and volunteer for the home building industry and served on numerous committees at the local, provincial and national levels of the association. She was a founding member of the CHBA Net Zero Council’s Management Committee, served on the Building Code Conservation Advisory Council for the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and currently sits on the CSA 424 Working Group. She is the honored recipient of the EnerQuality Leader of the Year Award for 2019. Stefanie served on the Canadian Home Builders’ Association Executive from 2015-2021 and served her term as CHBA National President in 2019/2020.
Claudia Duffield
Claudia Duffield has been sharing her expertise in all things custom cabinetry and custom home storage for 20 years. Originally from Brazil and of Italian descent, her previous career as an ESL teacher comes in handy when educating home owners and design consultants in efficient and top quality cabinetry solutions. Her latest company, Dell Anno Home Design focuses on exceptional quality in design and installation of custom cabinetry for every room of the home.
Vanessa Pfannenschmidt
An environmentalist at heart, Vanessa has used her social work training combined with over a decade in various customer service roles to adapt and excel in an industry new to her. Joining Diamondback Enterprise Group just shy of two years ago as a part-time assistant, Vanessa has proven herself and quickly advanced to the company’s Operations Manager, overseeing the success of 5-20 projects at any given time, while ensuring success of the overall company. She is immersing herself in HAVAN Women’s Council to assist both in her personal growth and her passion for sustainability and equality in the workplace.
