ASSOCIATION ELECTS 2021/2022 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Vancouver, BC – Members of the Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN) elected Randy Chin, RBC Financial (Vancouver) as their 2021/2022 Chair at HAVAN’s Annual Election Meeting online, on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.

Randy leads a team of Mortgage Specialists on Vancouver’s Westside as Regional Manager at RBC. Over the previous 10 years Randy has worked closely with builders and developers as the Manager Builder Development for BC. In his current role, Randy continues to serve the real estate community and to help Canadians realize their dreams of home ownership, while helping to create a remarkable home-buying experience.

An active member of HAVAN since 2013, Randy has served 6 years on the Board of Directors with the last two terms in the roles of Second Vice Chair and First Vice Chair. He also has served for 4 years as the Treasurer at CHBA BC, and as a Director for CHBA National with a focus on urban housing matters. Residing in Langley with his wife, 2 kids and a dog, Randy is an avid fitness fanatic, motorcyclist and is a general outdoor enthusiast. Chin succeeds outgoing Chair, Robert Griesdale, Owner/Director Blackfish Homes and Construction Ltd.

Chin spoke to the online audience reflecting on the challenges that lay ahead with COVID-19, observing ‘the market continues to be challenged by supply chains, bureaucratic application processes and labour shortages.’ Chin remains encouraged for the economic opportunities within the Pacific Northwest and for the long-term viability of our industry, pointing out ‘while these issues are not unique to BC or Vancouver, what is unique, is the continual demand for housing in this market that is driven by stable government, employment, lifestyle and quality of living.’

Ron Rapp, HAVAN CEO, congratulated Chin on his new appointment as Chair of the Board, acknowledging the 30 plus years of financial expertise he brings to the position, and welcomed all new and returning members to the 2021/2022 HAVAN Board, while offering a heartfelt thanks to retiring members Avtar Johl of Platinum Group of Companies, Blake Ponuick of BAKA Communications, and Jason Wolfe of FortisBC for their combined 30+ years of service and support.

Also elected to the 2021/2022 HAVAN Executive Committee are: First Vice-Chair Dave Deamer, Polygon Homes Ltd., (Vancouver); Second Vice-Chair Henri Belisle, TQ Construction Ltd. (Burnaby); Secretary/Treasurer Chris Mould, MNP LLP, (Surrey), with Robert Griesdale, Blackfish Homes, (North Vancouver) as Past Chair.
