The Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association (HAVAN) has announced the finalists for its third annual Ovation Awards, recognizing excellence in new home and renovation design, construction, accessibility, sustainability, affordability, energy efficiency and heritage restoration.
For the third straight year, FortisBC is the presenting sponsor. The provincial Homeowner Protection Office (HPO), branch of BC Housing, came on board this year as the patron sponsor.
“Last year, Vancouver-area homeowners spent nearly $4 billion on home renovation, and builders started construction on 17,867 new homes. Residential construction is a major contributor to Metro Vancouver’s economy and HAVAN is delighted to partner with FortisBC and the HPO to honour the industry’s brightest stars,” said HAVAN President and CEO Peter Simpson.
Finalists were chosen in 41 categories. The judges were award-winning builders, renovators and designers from the Okanagan, Vancouver Island, Whistler and Seattle. The judging process was rigorous, as submissions were named as finalists only if the judges agreed unanimously that the submissions had exceptional merit.
Topping the finalist chart with 15 placements was renovation contractor Kenorah Construction & Design. ParkLane Homes was named a finalist 13 times. Following close behind were My House Design/Build Team (9), Intermind Design (8), Portrait Homes (7) and G. Wilson Construction (6).
Award winners will be announced at a gala awards ceremony on Saturday, April 28 in Vancouver. Visit havan.ca/ovationawards for the list of finalists and links to their websites.
