House built in 1913 on a high-profile Kitsilano corner-lot, underwent many incarnations, including time as a rooming-house. In disrepair with no original character details remaining inside, it was dark, draughty, structurally compromised, with a small, inadequate kitchen separated over two spaces.
Inspired by an arial photo from the 1940’s which revealed an original large covered-porch and upper balcony, the clients chose to revitalise the home’s exterior to its former glory while transforming it into a comfortable contemporary family “forever” home.
This lovingly-reimagined home connects to both its past and present. A family home whose beautifully-honored form has reinstated it as a neighbourhood gem for years to come.
