Homebuilders Association Vancouver Announces Interim CEO – Ron Rapp
It is with great pleasure that the Homebuilders Association of Vancouver (HAVAN) today announces effective immediately, the Board of Directors has appointed Ron Rapp, formerly of Morningstar Homes, as HAVAN’s interim CEO for a period of six months.
HAVAN is fortunate to have Ron join as the interim CEO as he has a wealth of experience in industry; tremendous knowledge of the association; key relationships with staff and with industry and government influencers; and most importantly a passion for the Association, as the voice and face of residential construction.
Speaking on behalf of the Association, Board Chair Garett Wall said “The Board’s mandate is to ensure the Association continues to move forward and deliver on its core values of increased advocacy, education and opportunities for our members. We are fortunate to have someone of Ron’s caliber and in-depth industry knowledge to step up on such short notice. Ron’s history with the Association as HAVAN Director (7 years 6 months,) including Board Chair (2015,) and Director and Chair of Government Relations Committee CHBA BC (5 years 6 months,) will help to make the transition seamless.”
The need for this role arose when Bob de Wit took medical leave on the advice of his doctors to be able to focus on his health and family. An active CEO role is critical to ensure the Association moves forward with its strategic plan initiatives and increases its role in government relations on behalf of its members. Residential Construction is the largest employment sector in British Columbia and HAVAN is committed to do everything it can to support our great industry.
As V.P. Construction, Morningstar Homes for 15 years, Rapp oversaw the planning, design, delivery, and customer service for over 2000 homes. His experience encompasses low and high rise multi residential, seniors housing and long-term care facilities, subsidized housing, and industrial and commercial projects, complimented with a with a broad range of exposure to, and or a direct hand in land acquisition, planning and development, product design and site planning, sales and marketing, construction, and after sales service.
Rapp noted “the circumstances under which I am joining HAVAN are unfortunate, however I am extremely honoured to fill-in for Bob during his medical leave. I am familiar with the Board, the staff and the Association’s initiatives. I’m passionate about our industry, and with the Federal Election upon us this fall, we have a lot of work and initiatives to push forward. I’m excited to take on the role.”
