HAVAN members Kalu Interiors know how to splash out when it comes to personalizing a home. Working with On Time Construction Ltd. they remodelled a two-bedroom condo into one master suite with striking full-sized spa.
Key steps taken to reach the homeowner’s goals include:
Replacing the original built-in tub with a free-standing tub, adding a floating vanity and raising the ceiling a few inches for added height all help to open the space. A full-height alcove was created alongside the tub to add additional shelving and storage, increasing the footprint of the bathroom. Functionality was added with the shower width increased, lowering the shower curb and adding a bench to sit, and niche for storage.
Scale and careful attention to proportions of integrated items into the bathroom provide the best functionality to the homeowners such as carefully scaled counter heights to the users, width of the new doorway, increased ceiling heights, and levels of lighting in the ceiling, walls and accents such as motion detection accent LED pathways in the ensuite conveniently located under the vanity.
New finishes selected include an array of light colours textures to provide a clean, bright yet dramatic spa-inspired canvas. With large format white polished marble porcelain tiles, contrasted by key features, finishes & fixtures, such as a matte black vanity, black honed granite, a runway of matte black tile and accented throughout with matte-finished hardware and fixtures.
Key Technology was integrated to maximize the use and efficiency. Occupant motion detectors for lighting also include a timer for ventilation and occupancy tracking for the heated floors. All the lighting is wireless, programmable, and motion sensor. Automatic accent pathway lighting initiates upon entry into the ensuite, should one arise from slumber in the middle of the night. Convenient features such as a shower bench, tiled shower drain, multiple levels of bathing including rain shower, hand-held and body jets offer ultimate usability and comfort.
