Tell us about yourself & your company?
Dani: I am the Director of Construction at Alabaster Homes, in charge of all construction projects. Some are built in house, some with a GC.
How did you get into the residential construction industry?
Dani: It wasn’t planned, that’s for sure. I believe I was trying to get out of the country and needed a little bit more ‘site’ experience so that I could get a job in Australia and almost 2 decades later here I am.
Dani: The people! Construction people show such an immense pride in what they do and I love being part of that culture.
It’s 11AM Saturday morning, what are you up to?
Dani: I am probably somewhere between the laundry room and costco
What are your hobbies?
Dani: getting out of the city if that counts as a hobby, but if I am around I read or do puzzles…I am very much an introvert.
Proudest moment?
Dani: Couple of years ago, I was on the street and a few kids stopped me to ask me if I was Dani and told me they heard me speak at their school and it was so inspirational.
What have you done in your community in the last year?
Dani: I am currently mentoring about 6 young professionals, I am working with a Canadian charity which teaches young girls about opportunities in construction, I fundraise for a couple of schools in Africa and I think that is it but I tend to forget things..
Favourite HAVAN event and why?
Dani: I am on the women’s council and I love talking to the ladies every time we meet because it’s so inspirational to be surrounded by so many successful and super humble human beings
Best work perk at your job?
Dani: I must go drinking Friday after work 🙂 We call it team building

What inspires you?
Dani: the good in people
Dani: I am struggling with working from home but I think we have discovered lots of ways technology makes things easier. I never thought I could manage a construction crew through video meetings but it works.
What are you excited for / looking forward to right now?
Dani: I am working on starting a charity with my partner to support children and women
Share an interesting fact about your life?
Dani: I speak 4 languages and I have lived in 4 countries by the time I was 18
Last piece of advice you have received?
Dani: You can’t do it all and that’s ok
Starbucks order?
Dani: I am a decaf coffee drinker but never from Starbucks. I am more of a McDonald’s girl and at a bar it is a good aged tequila neat

Dani: I am into 90’s hip-hop and rap so there is a mixture

Pets?
Dani: Frankie-Doodle, she is a mini Goldendoodle
Favourite holiday / destination?
Dani: Favorite holiday is Thanksgiving and destination is a tough one but I think Italy never disappoints
Does pineapple belong on pizza?
Dani: Oh hell no!
First concert?
Dani: I honestly don’t remember but if I did I would probably get in trouble by my mom because I wasn’t allowed to be there
Last book read/show watched?
Dani: Last book was ‘Why We Can’t Sleep’, last movie/ documentary ‘The Social Dilemma’
Fun fact about you?
Dani: I can’t pronounce ‘vacuum’ for the life of me and I will do everything never to use that word
What do you collect?
Dani: memories
Netflix guilty pleasure?
Dani: I am not much of a TV person but sometimes I will have a binge day with the Kardashians …I can’t believe I am actually saying this in public

Dani: I truly hope that any parents out there will teach their kids that construction is a first choice option with some great possibilities
