This past year has been a pivotal one for housing advocacy, with significant actions taken by government to expedite housing delivery across Metro Vancouver. HAVAN has been actively engaged at both municipal and provincial levels, advocating for a balanced policy approach that represents the interests of all our members.
Our Government Relations Team has provided essential industry insights and advocacy to help shape the evolving housing landscape. From development cost charges to zero-emission retrofits, our team has worked closely with local and provincial officials to advance effective solutions. Some key highlights include:
- Release of a report on Development Financing in a time of a cost of delivery crisis, which has drawn significant media and industry traction.
- Participation in committees, workshops and forums across all 21 Metro Vancouver municipalities.
- Advocacy at events like the CONNECT Municipal Dinner

HAVAN continues to work with CHBA BC and CHBA to advocate for all levels of government to work together to address the challenges of the housing industry including zoning restrictions, density limits, and NIMBYism.
