These unprecedented times are filled with anxiety and stress, yet they present us with a unique opportunity that is worth noticing. We are now seeing more and more people following the public health recommendations of physical isolation and working from home – which is great as we want to make sure that we keep everyone as healthy as possible and we don’t collapse the medical system.
Albert Einstein said that “a crisis could be a real blessing to any person, to any nation. For all crises bring progress. Creativity is born from anguish. It is in a crisis that inventiveness is born, as well as discoveries made and big strategies arise. The greatest inconvenience of people and nations is the laziness with which they attempt to find the solutions to their problems. Let’s not pretend that things will change if we keep on doing the same things.”
Let’s face it, we are in the middle of a crisis and not a small one. There are a number of front line fighters that are doing what they can to help us, but we cannot just relax and demand solutions, we have to be part of the solution.
Now more than ever before, it is time to think.
There are thousands of ideas floating around. An idea is not a good idea unless you can make it happen. Ideas that turn into something palpable do so because they are loaded with emotion. Emotion is nothing but energy in movement. But we are being bombarded with news and our isolation and lack of human interaction can inject panic and fear which will only paralyze our emotions and will not allow our ideas to materialize.
In light of all these circumstances, I questioned myself about how Harmony Sense Interiors can help be part of the solution? I have been inside my house for more than 4 weeks, away from my design studio, trying to do some work and bouncing all over my house, sitting on my bed, standing in the kitchen, and laying on the living room floor. I was starting to feel frustrated – plus having two kids made things even more challenging. I started to complain about all the things I couldn’t do, from not being able to travel to see my parents, to have to cancel the growth plans for my company, to becoming the teacher of my kids with school closures.
But then something shifted. I remember I once heard “you are always in the right place and moment.” I realized that I was gaining nothing by complaining about the things I can’t control, so I decided to take control. I put my skills into motion and reorganized my home, designing my designated “go to work” area. It was like day and night. I immediately felt how different the energy started to flow when I sat to work in my space.
People often think the space they work in will not affect their productivity, but in reality, we are all interconnected not only to other humans but also to the space and the objects that surround us. If we just rearrange our environment to make sure it is working with us and not against us, we can be more creative, productive, and most importantly, not only survive but thrive, during this crisis.
Here is my gift to you. Harmony Sense Interior’s Home Office Design Guide on how to set up your home office, a compilation of best practices, and ideas to help you overcome this crisis, get your ideas to flow full of emotion, to become more creative and flourish within our new reality.
Stay safe and take back control of your life.
