HAVAN 2021 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

HAVAN’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), sponsored by Federated Insurance, will be conducted online, from 12:00 – 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
Keynote speaker for this event is Larry Beasley, senior Canadian city planner, urban designer, teacher, and author, talking about Vancouverism* – Where do We Stand + 30?
The AGM portion of the agenda will involve the presentation of HAVAN’s audited 2020 financial statements and approval of our membership fee schedule for 2021-2022. The financial statements and minutes from the Annual Election Meeting will be circulated prior to the AGM.
HAVAN will also be announcing the recipients of the HAVAN BCIT Scholarships, sponsored in-part by Centra Cares and funded by the HAVAN Fall Classic Golf Tournament.

Larry Beasley, C.M.
LARRY BEASLEY is a senior Canadian city planner, urban designer, teacher, and author.
He is the ‘Distinguished Practice’ Professor of Planning at the University of British Columbia, and founding principal of Beasley and Associates. For many years, he was the Chief Planner for the City of Vancouver.
Among many appointments, he sits on the Boards of TransLink in Metro Vancouver, the National Capital Commission in Ottawa, the Green Line Transit Project in Calgary, and the International Economic Advisory Board in Rotterdam.
Working in cities around the world, he has completed game-changing assignments in Abu Dhabi, Moscow, Dallas, Scandinavia, and across Canada.
He has authored two popular books – “Vancouverism”, and, “Ecodesign for Cities and Suburbs”. He teaches extensively and his on-line course has had a world-wide reach.
Larry Beasley has received several Honourary Doctorates as well as the Kevin Lynch Prize from MIT and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Initially studying architecture, he has degrees in Geography/Political Science and Planning. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Planners, an Honorary Member of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, and has been recognized as an “Advocate for Architecture” by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. He has also received the Dean’s Medal of Distinction from UBC’s Faculty of Applied Sciences.
He is a Member of the Order of Canada.
