HAVAN’s highly anticipated Legends of Housing is returning on Wednesday, January 25 in-person at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Burnaby and tickets are now available!
This year’s theme, Trailblazers, brings together a dynamic panel of trailblazers who are shaping the path forward in Metro Vancouver. The 2023 Legends are:
Evan Allegretto, President, Intracorp Homes
With over 15 years of development experience in varied roles, Evan is President, BC at Intracorp Homes – a fully integrated developer focused primarily on urban development. Intracorp has built over 25,000 homes in 184 communities. In his role, Evan oversees business development, business operations, and acquisitions strategy as well as managing the success of Intracorp’s projects by overseeing project feasibility, product development and execution including Ashley Mar, the first combined transit-oriented co-op and rental community in Vancouver and one of the largest co-op housing renewal projects in Canada. Evan has been named a Business in Vancouver BC500 Influential Leader two years in a row. He is a member of Intracorp’s Canadian Investment Committee, Treasurer of the Board for Highlands Early Learning Centre, sits on the Industry Board of Advisors for UBC’s Real Estate Club, is a Director of the Board for the Urban Development Institute and an industry liaison for municipalities across Greater Vancouver.
Mike Mackay, CEO, Strand
Mike is the CEO of Strand Development, a Vancouver-based finance, development, and management company with business activities across North America. Founded in 1976, Strand is active in all asset classes except for hospitality and has delivered more than 27,000 homes since its inception. In his role as CEO, Mike leads an office of over 40 professionals who oversee developments and assets encompassing over 3800 new homes, one million square feet of industrial space and 600,000 square feet of commercial space and is responsible for the company’s overall direction and execution of its business plans. Mike sits on the board of the Urban Development Institute, St. George’s School and Arts Umbrella.
Mindy Wight, CEO, Nch’ḵaỷ Development Corporation
Mindy Wight is the Chief Executive Officer of Nch’ḵay̓ Development Corporation. A member of the Squamish Nation, Mindy is a demonstrated leader in advancing economic growth for Indigenous economies. With over 15 years of experience in the areas of financial accounting, taxation, and business, Mindy was previously a partner and the National Leader of Indigenous Tax Services for MNP LLP. Mindy is a frequent speaker and presenter across the country and serves as a Board Director for Crescent Point Energy Corp.
Kirk LaPointe, Publisher, and Editor-in-Chief of BIV and Glacier Media VP Editorial and respected Canadian journalist will return as the moderator.
During the lively moderated panel discussion, the Legends will share their experiences in this changing market, their personal and company philosophy, goals, community impact as it relates to homebuilding, and their insights on this industry’s future.
Legends of Housing, hosted by HAVAN’s Government Relations Committee, is a must-attend event, bringing together more than 250 people, including elected government representatives, industry leadership, developers, builders, and HAVAN members.
