Members of the Homebuilders Association of Vancouver (HAVAN) elected Garett Wall, CEO, Centra Construction Group and Centra Windows as their 2018/2019 Chair at the HAVAN’s Annual Election Meeting in Burnaby, at the Riverway Golf Course on Wednesday, October 3, 2018.
A strong proponent of the association, Wall stated ‘Centra’s strong alignment across all verticals and core values of the association will make for an exciting year ahead,’ noting Centra’s multiple divisions who serve and participate in both the new construction and renovation marketplace; windows and exterior doors manufacturing division, a retail window renovation division, a new construction siding division, and multi-family restorations division. Wall succeeds outgoing Chair, Larry Clay, of Clay Construction.
Wall spoke to the sold-out crowd, looking ahead to industry challenges, stating the importance of collaboration between related associations (CHBA BC, and CHBA National) on advocacy issues impacting the housing industry; builder education; and the importance of social impact, a personal interest to Wall, looking to strengthen the association’s alignment on initiatives such as HAVAN’s Forge Properties and Centra Cares BCIT Carpentry Scholarships, supporting deserving students looking to enter the residential construction industry and heightening the ongoing relationship with Nightshift Ministries who help the homeless in Surrey, two initiatives both currently supported by HAVAN, and Centra Cares’ social impact program.
Also elected to the 2018/2019 HAVAN Executive Committee are: First Vice-Chair Mark Cooper, Shakespeare Homes & Renovations Inc, North Vancouver; Second Vice-Chair Robert Griesdale, Blackfish Homes Ltd., North Vancouver; and Secretary/Treasurer Avtar Johl, Platinum Group of Companies, Surrey.
