    Shaun is very passionate about sustainable prefab passive houses. He is now a product consultant with 475 High Performance Building Supply for British Columbia and Alberta. He graduated from The University of British Columbia with a degree in Wood Products Processing. He is a certified Passive House Tradesperson. He also obtained a Building Construction Technology Associate Certificate at BCIT while working at Viceroy Homes and BOSA Construction. He was a general contractor under Footprint Sustainable Housing Corp before joining 475. He is involved with the passive house tradesperson course at BCIT as an instructor as well as developing their high performance building lab.     Construction has always been instrumental in Todd’s life. Starting at a young age, each summer was spent on-site working for this father, Garry Best, who did commercial builds. Todd’s passion for building was evident early in life and he never doubted that one day he was going to own his own company. In 1994, Todd acquired his Red Seal in carpentry, and by the age of 27 had started Garry Best Design and Construction, which would later be shortened to Best Builders Ltd.     Mike Freedman is a legend in the technology business.  A lifelong music lover and passionate advocate for amazing sound, Mike has spent most of his life helping others fall in love with music and to listen better. Mike is the founder of Audio Insider, a technology consulting company dedicated to helping builders, designers and architects find the best possible technology experience for their projects.  He also works with Hi Fi Centre, one of the North America’s leading sound system and home theatre designers.

    He is a proud and very active member of the HAVAN, sitting on 3 committees and the creator or Rock the House – a course designed to help builders navigate the ever-changing technology landscape.     Designer Lucila Diaz serves as Principal at Harmony Sense Interiors Ltd. in North Vancouver, BC. and offers interior design services all over the lower mainland.     Greg comes from a family of home builders. He is the 4th generation in his family as a home builder, and has been involved in the industry since a young age.     Chris O’Donohue has over 25 years of experience in the landscape and horticulture industry. He founded The Great Canadian Landscaping Company Ltd. In Spring of 2000. Chris holds the designation of a Certified Landscape Horticulturist in accordance with the Statutes of the Province of British Columbia. He also has a BBA in Business Administration from Capilano University. Chris has lived on the North Shore since he was a toddler and currently resides in Edgemont Village with his wife and two daughters. He serves his community proudly through the and with Edible Garden Project. He has also served as the Vice President of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #44 and was on the Board of Directors with TB Vets.

    In 2003, he was awarded the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ award from the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce. In 2010, his company was awarded the ‘Service Excellence’ award from the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce. He was also awarded the “Forty under Forty” from Business in Vancouver in the same year. In 2011, Chris was awarded ‘Business Person of the Year’ from the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce.     Chris founded Vancity Sprinklers Incorporated, an Irrigation and Landscape Lighting business in 2017. His constant need for providing the best service possible was not present in this space. He wanted to ensure that his clients always had the best, to achieve this he did it on his own through the development of this business. They provide Irrigation and Lighting Service and custom Installation services.

    In 2018, Chris also purchased the Sea to Sky Franchise of Precision Greens, a premier leader in Synthetic Turf and Putting Greens for over 20 years. They have always been on the leading edge of this space and was a great addition to his group of landscaping and construction-based businesses.

  • Mark Cooper, President, Shakespeare Homes & Renovations Inc.

    On the North Shore in a family of artists, Mark found his interest after taking the construction course at Carson Graham high school in 1983, before graduating from the BCIT construction program. A journeyman carpenter and a home construction contractor for more than 25 years, Mark incorporated Shakespeare Homes in the early 1990’s.

    As a long-standing member of the HAVAN, Mark is the Chairman of their Board, also serves as the Chair of its Renovation Council and is active in its seminars and training events. As well as mentoring newer construction companies and trades, he is supporting the school district’s on-site introduction to construction by hosting regular site-progress visits for grade 11-12 students.   • Charmaine Lang, Owner, Charmaine Lang Design

    Charmaine started out building houses, designing cabinets, and working in the insurance business, providing flood and fire restoration.  She holds her diploma in Interior Design and has managed a 250 lot subdivision, building 25 homes at once and closing 12-15 homes per month. An active personal and interpersonal problem solver, she is a highly skilled negotiator and facilitator, bringing clarity and comfort to her clients.

     

    With over 30 years in the construction industry, Charmaine has the knowledge and experience to provide both interior design and consulting for both renovations and new construction projects, and shows her clients how to save money.
