HAVAN’s 8th Annual Legends of Housing features a panel of the construction industry’s top influencers, who have helped shape the Metro Vancouver housing market as it is today. Taking place on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Burnaby, this premiere evening event will feature three Legends who wiill share their personal histories, experiences navigating this changing market, and offer predictions on the future of the industry. This is a rare opportunity to listen to and connect with these industry icons.
This year’s Legends are: Neil Chrystal, President and CEO of Polygon Homes, and Shayne Ramsay, CEO of BC Housing, and Avtar Bains, President of Premise Properties. The evening’s moderator is Ward McAllister, President and CEO of Ledingham McAllister.

Shayne Ramsay, CEO, BC Housing
As CEO of BC Housing, Shayne Ramsay is responsible for the delivery of a wide range of housing programs and services. No longer just a provider of housing for low-income British Columbians, BC Housing has expanded its mandate during Shayne’s 18 years in the role to include other responsibilities, including licensing residential builders, delivering a wide range of homeless programs and support services, and conducting and sharing housing-related research and education.
In addition to his work with BC Housing, Shayne is also a past Chair of the International Housing Partnership, an international organization created to share innovative strategies for the development, operation and sustainability of social housing around the world. The IHP currently comprises 175 CEO members of housing providers from Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. -
Neil Chrystal, President and CEO, Polygon Homes Ltd.
Neil manages all aspects of Polygon’s home-building activities in Greater Vancouver, and currently serves on the Board of Executives of the Urban Development Institute – Pacific Region. Neil joined Polygon in 1987, after graduating from the Urban Land Economics program at the University of British Columbia.

Avtar Bains, President, Premise Properties
Avtar founded Premise Properties in 2012 and is responsible for its overall business including the origination and execution of long-term investment strategies and objectives.
Prior to establishing Premise Properties, Avtar spent over thirty years with Colliers International, most recently as Executive Vice President, National Investment Team. During his tenure, Avtar represented clients with particular focus on development and investment properties.
In addition to leading Premise Properties, Avtar currently holds four board positions with Aspen Properties, Morguard North American Residential REIT, Peterson and UBC Properties Trust.

Ward McAllister, President & CEO, Ledingham McAllister
Ward, a fifth generation Vancouverite, is President and Chief Executive Officer of Ledingham McAllister, one of BC’s most established and respected Developers. Through his 40 years of experience he has been involved in all facets of the development and construction industry. Ward establishes and manages the vision and objectives of the company, and has overall responsibility for acquisition, finance, design, approvals, construction and marketing of all Ledingham McAllister Projects.
Ward is a Past President of U.D.I. Canada, Past President of U.D.I. (Pacific) for three terms and a Board member for over 20 years. He has received many wards and mentions for this contribution to the industry and the community. Ward is regarded as a Chief spokesman for a wide variety of real estate matters as they pertain to the public and all levels of Government.
