HAVAN’s Legends of Housing, presented by FortisBC, is a premier annual event featuring three of the construction industry’s top influencers and trailblazers who have helped shape the Metro Vancouver housing market as it is today. The Legends will share their personal histories, their experiences in this changing market, what they have done to be a trailblazer (philosophy, goals, community impact), and offer their predictions on the future of the industry.

    Kirk holds two full roles in Vancouver: as the Vice President, Audience and Business Development at Business in Vancouver Media Group, the publisher of Business in Vancouver newspaper and biv.com; and as a daily host of a week-evening three-hour radio show on Roundhouse Radio, 98.3 FM Vancouver. He teaches Ethics and Leadership as an Adjunct Professor and the Executive-in-Residence at the Graduate School of Journalism at University of British Columbia. He is the former Executive Director of the Organization of News Ombudsmen.

    In 2014, Kirk ran for Mayor of Vancouver under the banner of the Non-Partisan Association. Before his time at BIV and Roundhouse he was the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief at Self-Counsel Press. He is the former CBC Ombudsman of English Services and has held the senior editorial roles at CTV News, The Hamilton Spectator and Southam News. Kirk was also the founding Executive Editor of National Post, Managing Editor of The Vancouver Sun, Ottawa Bureau Chief and General News Editor at The Canadian Press, and host on CBC Newsworld, among other media roles.
