With every new year comes new trends for the world of interior design and 2019 will not disappoint with what it has in store. Keep reading to see a snapshot of how the world of kitchen design is evolving and what we at Designs by K&S predict to be the market leaders in trends for the new year.
Almost all elements of the kitchen are seeing a shift in design for 2019 from traditional design to a modern minimalist look. Matte black, white and bright coloured appliances are becoming more and more popular replacing the classic stainless steel finishes. Plumbing fixtures in gold, copper and black as well as specialty sinks can be found in both the kitchen and bathroom. Engineered Quartz remains the go to in countertops, with honed finishes quickly gaining popularity over the standard polished. You may want to opt for a 2cm thickness to give a sleeker more European look over the standard 3cm thickness.
Say ‘hello’ to painted or veneered flat panel doors and ‘see you later’ to stained shaker doors. The classic painted cabinet door will remain, however expect to see less white and a lot more black. Colours such as blue, green and stains in warm chestnut and white are also front and centre this coming year. Combining both flat panel and shaker doors is a great way in achieving a transitional design, often seen on drawers and upper cabinets, that is, if you choose to have upper cabinets, noting a strong upcoming trend is to have no upper cabinets.
Many are opting for base and pantry storage over upper cabinet storage. If you are aiming to achieve a clean-looking kitchen with modern elements, this is the trend for you!
