PREMIER EVENTS (BY MONTH)

Legends of Housing Dinner (Government Relations Committee)

Held: Late January

Event Description:  A plated dinner event, featuring industry legends and a moderator, where attendees are treated to an inside look at these successful legends and how they see the industry trending. A popular presentation, this evening typically sells out well in advance.

Sponsorship Opportunities: Event sponsors $2,000+

HAVAN Awards – Finalists Reception

Held: March

Event Description: The HAVAN local awards program for members showcases the best in new-home building, renovation and design. The finalists are announced at this member-exclusive event.

Sponsorship Opportunities: Corporate sponsorships are linked to the gala event.

Designers Crawl (Designers Council)

Held:  April 

Event Description: Touring various showrooms and production facilities, the Desginers Crawl aims to build connections within the design community, while learning more about the region in which we work and the resources available. 

Home Design+Reno Show (Designers Council)

Held:  April VanDusen Gardens

Event Description: Free to consumers, the Spring Home Design + Reno Show, sponsored by Western Living Magazine offers a wealth of information with complimentary one-on-one consultations at the Ask-A-Pro Expo, plus free industry expert 30-minute seminars throughout the day. The spring show typically attracts 300 homeowners.

Sponsorship Opportunities: Event sponsorships vary, starting at $1,000 per show. Tabletops $800

HAVAN Awards – Gala Night

Held: April

Event Description: The HAVAN awards for Housing Excellence is the local awards program for members to showcase the best in new home building, renovation and design.  The winners are announced at this member-exclusive event.

Sponsorship Opportunities: Corporate sponsorships begin at $1,500 – $30,000+.

Builders Expo (Suppliers Council)

Held: 1st Wednesday in May 

Event Description: Held at the Great Canadian Casino Vancouver Theatre in Coquitlam, HAVAN’s supplier trade show always draws an overwhelmingly positive response. More than 700 builders, site supers, project managers, subcontractors and renovators (including members and non-members) from large and small construction firms attend.

Sponsorship Opportunities: Sponsorship packages begin at $750. Table top displays begin around $850 and all exhibitors must offer a minimum $100 door prize.

Young Professionals Summer Social

Held: June, central location

Event Description: The format varies each year with a focus on networking (members only) and attracts many builders and renovator members. This event usually brings in more than 200 attendees.

Suppliers Council Fall Classic Golf Tournament

Held: First week in September

Event Description: One of Western Canada’s largest golf tournaments, presented by Preston Mobility, the HAVAN Fall Classic Golf Tournament sells out each year with 288 golfers and 375 banquet guests. The tournament is held at Swan-e-Set Bay Resort and Country Club, featuring an auction in support of HAVAN’s four annual BCIT scholarships, sponsored in part by Centra Cares.

Sponsorship Opportunities: Range from Hole Sponsor at $750 to Presenting Sponsor at $20,000.

Connect Municipal Dinner Meeting (Government Relations Committee)

Held: First Wednesday, November

Event Description: HAVAN hosts Connect to bring municipal elected officials and members together. Featuring a rotation of municipal mayoral leaders as key note presenter, the dinner is moved around the Lower Mainland to provide access across the region. . These networking and information events feature meet-and-mix opportunities, dinner, and a presentation on current industry issues by a prominent expert. On average, 150 people attend these events, making for excellent networking.

Sponsorship Opportunities: Sponsorship of the meeting ranges from $1,000  to $4,000 based on the speaker at the event. 

Chill Out for Coats For Kids Wrap-Up Holiday Party (Custom Builders & Renovator Council)

Held: First Friday in December, at Trail Appliances Vancouver

Event Description: The annual Holiday Party celebrates the cumulative success of HAVAN members collecting Coats for Kids Campaign for the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau. It is a fabulous way to kick off the holiday season! These types of events usually bring in more than 150 members.

Sponsorship Opportunities: Sponsorship packages $750+

RE-OCCURING EVENTS:

Breakfast Networking Events (Membership Committee)

Held: 3 times per year, in a central location

Event Description: Including the always booked-out speed networking, as well as an opportunity for members to have tabletop displays, members and non-members have an opportunity to learn about HAVAN and network. The event usually brings in more than 120 members and non-members.

Sponsorship Opportunities: Sponsorship packages range from $1,000 – $2,500; tabletops $300. 

New Member Orientations (Membership Committee)

Held: Eight events per year held at a member location

Event Description: Guided by seasoned association veterans,  attendees break out into 6-8 smaller groups to encourage questions, discussion and networking. Orientations book out each month (50 attendees max.) and members with a variety of backgrounds attend.

Sponsorship Opportunity: Share your showroom, and cater breakfast.

Young Professional Networking Events 

A number of events are hosted by the YP committee including Go-Karting, Pool Sharks, Beach Volleyball, Whisky Tasting, “Minute to Win It” Pub Night, and Dodgeball on Trampolines to name but a few. Always pushing the limits, the YPs set out to involve, engage and inform. EDUCATION AND TECHNICAL PROGRAMS:

Industry Workshops – “Business in the Boardroom” (Education & Technical Committee)

Held: Typically 10 workshops presented throughout the year.

Event Description: HAVAN provides industry workshops covering curriculum matching BC Housing’s seven core competencies to maintain builder licensing requirements (CPDs). Class attendance is limited to 30, to keep the format interactive and attendees engaged, and are taught by HAVAN industry experts.

Content is typically video-recorded and repurposed for use on HAVAN’s eLearn online education portal.

Sponsorship Opportunities: Sponsorships can be negotiated based on the course but usually range from $500 to $5,000.

Builders’ Breakfast Series (Education & Technical Committee)

Held: last Thursday of the month, except July and December

Event Description: Responding to the constant change in building code requirements, HAVAN provides our members with timely, relevant, technical information, in a consistent, accessible, education and networking format. Sessions run 7:30am – 9am, including hot breakfast. Sessions typically draw 50-75 attendees, attracting multi- and single-family builders, plus renovators.

Content is video-recorded and repurposed for use on HAVAN’s eLearn online education portal.

Sponsorship Opportunities: Technical Sponsor (1 sponsor per session $1,000) Education Sponsor $5,000 per year.

AFFINITY PARTNERSHIPS:

Available: Year round, for a minimum of two years

Description: Available to members, an affinity partnership is a product or service offering endorsed by HAVAN and provided by one HAVAN member to another that provides an economic or brand benefit to both members and the association. HAVAN members will have access to exclusive savings on HAVAN endorsed programs. Product and service endorsement serves both the member and the Association well. For the member, HAVAN endorsement identifies a quality product or service that is either unique in the marketplace or cannot be found at lower prices. Affinity programs range from $5,000 and up.
