NATS Nursery recently supplied the Rotary Interpretive Center at the Derek Doubleday Arboretum on the Fraser Highway in Langley with a “LiveRoof” green roof. “LiveRoof” is the hybrid modular green roof system, providing a fully rooted and established sedum, native perennials and grasses, living roof that offers a bio-diverse habitat. The interpretive center and the arboretum is an ongoing collaboration between the Township of Langley, Rotary of Langley, private individuals and community businesses.
A 17 acre property next to the Langley Airport on the Fraser Highway features many theme gardens and plantings and is an ongoing work in progress project. The NATS Nursery team generously provided the shipping and installation services as well as providing the modular system at cost to the Township. Walt Pinder—Green Roof Professional, NATS Nursery LiveRoof salesperson and Meghan Bonnell –NATS Nursery Sedum Grower, spent the day assisting with and supervising the installation. Staff from the general contractor, Anderson Properties Ltd, rounded out the crew.
When open, the center will serve as an environmental education facility and a bookable meeting space.
