VANCOUVER: The Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN, formerly GVHBA) Ovation Award winners were revealed to the more than 450 guests attending the Gala on Saturday, May 4th at the JW Marriott Parq, Vancouver. Special guests included the Honourable Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Selina Robinson, and BC Housing’s VP and Registrar Wendy Acheson.
Celebrating the tenth awards season, thirty builders were awarded 49 prestigious Ovation Award wins. Notable highlights include:
Adera Development Corporation (Vancouver) took home a total of five awards, including the prestigious Grand Ovation Multi-Family Builder of the Year, plus Best Townhouse Development: Less than 1,500 sq ft; Best Multi-Family Lowrise Development; Best Residential Community: Multi-Family; and Best New Outdoor Living Space: Single-Family Production or Multi-Family;
Miracon Developments Inc. (Surrey) collected a total of four wins, including Grand Ovation Single-Family Builder of the Year; Single-Family Detached Home: 2,400 sq ft and over; Best Residential Community: Single Family; and the highly coveted FortisBC Award for Excellence in Energy Efficiency in New Residential Construction.
Tavan Developments Ltd. (Vancouver) received the prestigious Grand Ovation Custom Home Builder of the Year Award, plus two additional awards including Best Custom Home: $2Million – under $3Million, and Best Renovation $200,000 – $399,999.
Rodrozen Designs Inc. (Vancouver) celebrated three wins including Grand Ovation Residential Renovator of the Year, Best Bathroom Renovation $35,000 and over, and Best Renovation Over $1Million.
Other multi award-winning builders include: Davenport (North Vancouver) and Blackfish Homes Ltd. (North Vancouver) each with three awards, and Alabaster Homes (Vancouver), Goldcon Construction (North Vancouver), Rain City Renovations (Vancouver) and Troico (Coquitlam) each taking home two awards.
Ron Rapp, HAVAN CEO said ‘it requires knowledgeable professionals to successfully navigate the residential construction industry these days in Metro Vancouver as there have been significant changes over the past ten years. Land and material costs have increased significantly, development and building permits continue to challenge the system, as do labour shortages, plus building science and the introduction of the BC Energy Step Code in 2017 to achieve energy efficiency in homes are just a few complex technical advancements that come to mind.’ Rapp continued, ‘homeowners should look for the Ovation Awards symbol when sourcing builders and renovators. It’s a recognized symbol within the residential industry, and one they can trust.’
