2020 HAVAN Awards for Housing Excellence Winners Announced!
VANCOUVER, BC: The Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN) Awards for Housing Excellence winners were announced Friday, June 19th from 6:45pm – 9pm online. Typically, an exclusive industry Gala, this year with gathering restrictions limited due to COVID-19, HAVAN determined it would be a great opportunity to swing open the doors wide open and invite everyone in to peek at one of the most sought-after housing markets in the world, Metro Vancouver.
Ron Rapp, HAVAN CEO said, ‘when we decided to move the Gala online, we knew we had to do more than just move the date. Committed to redesigning the HAVAN Awards Gala, the team created a program that brought value to entrants and sponsors and connected these members with homeowners interested in home building, design and renovations.
The evening was both interactive and exciting for everyone.
Streaming live from an opulent house in North Vancouver, neighbours from the surrounding area were invited to join the excitement as local favourite, the Scott Riddell Band played from the garage. Staying with the at-home party theme, entrants and sponsors waiting and watching from their various locations around Metro Vancouver, had been hand-delivered a House Party box prior to the awards show, including the event program, and gifts, to commemorate the evening. Not to be left out, viewers had the option to access an online version of the party kit too.
As with any great house party, there was entertainment, people to chat with and rooms to explore, online. The mixologist instructed viewers how to make custom-crafted drinks, including one to commemorate the event, the ‘Taste of HAVAN’. Viewers had the option to hang out in the main room with emcee Bianca Solterbeck or mingle in the aquarium or in the backyard providing more subdued online chatting areas. Guests were even offered the opportunity to stretch it out with an instructor in the online yoga room!
In between the winner announcements, special guests shared their well wishes including the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Honourable Selina Robinson, and BC Housing’s VP and Registrar Wendy Acheson. The band played live sets, viewers participated in the Best Dance and Best Dressed competitions, and the four winners of the Predict the Winners Game were announced to round out a very interactive online Gala. Festivities wrapped up just past 9pm.
Celebrating the 11th awards season, 31 builders were awarded 55 prestigious HAVAN Awards. Notable highlights include:
Miracon Developments Inc. (Surrey): collected a total of five wins, including two Grand HAVAN Awards for Best Residential Community: Single Family for SOUTHCREST, and Grand HAVAN Award: Single-Family Home Builder of the Year. Other awards included Best Single-Family Detached Home: 2,400 S.F. and Over, and Best Interior Design Display Home: Singe-Family Home (Production) for SOUTHCREST -Estate B, and Best Single-Family Detached Homes Development (Production) for SOUTHCREST.
Naikoon Contracting Ltd. (North Vancouver): also celebrated five wins including Grand HAVAN Award: Custom Home Builder of the Year, plus Best Custom Home: $2 Million – Under $3 Million for Deep Cove Cliffhanger; Best Custom Home: $3 Million and Over and Best Certified High-Performance Home: New or Renovated for West Bay Net Zero; and Best Infill Development (six units of less) for The Ridge.
My House Design Build Team (Surrey): brought home four awards including Grand HAVAN Award for Residential Renovator of the Year, plus Best Renovation: Over $1 Million for Skaha Vista; Best Townhouse/Condominium Renovation: $250,000 and Over for Creekside Glamour; and Best Kitchen Renovation: Under $75,000 for Modern Refuge.
Marble Construction Ltd. (North Vancouver): with four wins including Best Custom Home $1.5 Million – Under $2 Million, Best New Kitchen: $100,000 and Over, and Best Outdoor Living Space: Custom or Renovated for Rosebery, plus Best New Kitchen: Under $50,000 for Montroyal.
Other Grand HAVAN Award winners included Park Ridge Homes Inc. (Surrey) for Best Residential Community: Multi-Family, and Zenterra Developments Ltd. (Surrey) for Multi-Family Home Builder of the Year.
Kindred Construction Ltd. with VictorEric Premium Homes (Vancouver) and La Scala – the Art of Technology (Vancouver) won the Excellence in Building Science Innovation in Residential Construction for Inte-Great Estate!, EDGAR (Vancouver) won BC Housing’s Award for Excellence in Innovative Housing for The Duke, and PD Moore Homes Inc.(Burnaby) with My Lane Home Inc.(Burnaby) won the FortisBC Award for Excellence in Energy Efficiency in New Residential Construction for The Lineage.
Ron Rapp, HAVAN CEO said ‘the residential construction industry has had the privilege of working through COVID-19, a responsibility we continue to take seriously.’ Rapp continued, ‘Homeowners looking to build or renovate during and post COVID-19 need to find ways to connect with trusted professionals online, and the HAVAN Awards is a good starting point. It’s a recognized brand within the residential industry, and one to trust.’
