2021 HAVAN Awards for Housing Excellence Winners Announced.

VANCOUVER, BC: The Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN) Awards for Housing Excellence winners were announced Friday, April 30, from 6:45pm – 9pm online. Typically, an exclusive industry event, this is the second year the Gala was held online. Streaming LIVE from an Award Finalist’s home in West Vancouver created the perfect opportunity for a house-party vibe, with everyone able to view the latest design and building trends from the comfort of their own home.

Ron Rapp, HAVAN CEO said, ‘renovations are in high demand these days as people are staying closer to home while we ride out the pandemic. Finding the right professional is one of the biggest hurdles a homeowner will face when looking to build or renovate. Streaming live from an exquisitely custom-built award-winning home in West Vancouver, viewers were treated to music by local band Ten Souljas while Yosh Kasahara, Executive Vice President of Alabaster Homes and renowned foodie @yoshfood shared an authentic Japanese Waygu beef appetizer to complement Mainland Whisky mixologist’s cocktail recipes. Entrants and sponsors received hand-delivered House Party boxes prior to the awards show, including the event program, and gifts to participate and commemorate the evening. Not to be left out, viewers had the option to access an online version of the party kit too.

Just like a great house party, people viewing from the online awards platform had the opportunity to mix ‘n mingle in an organic video chat room, whereby simply moving your mouse, you could ‘bump into’ guests and strike up a conversation.

Celebrating the 12th awards season, 37 builders and designers were awarded 55 prestigious HAVAN Awards. Notable highlights include:

Infinity Properties Ltd. (Langley): brought home four wins including two Grand HAVAN Awards: Best Residential Community: Multi-Family (Wilder Crossing), and Multi-Family Home Builder of the Year, plus awards for Best Outdoor Living Space: Single-Family Production or Multi-Family, and Best Multi-Family Amenity Space, both for Wilder Crossing.

Vesta Properties Ltd. (Langley): collected a total of four wins, including two Grand HAVAN Awards: Best Residential Community: Single-Family (Latimer Heights), and Single-Family Home Builder of the Year, plus two additional awards for Best Single-Family Detached Home (Production): 2,400 S.F. and Over for The Wellington at Latimer Heights, and Best Single-Family Detached Home Development (Production): More than 10 Units for Latimer Heights Single Family Lane Homes.

Barrett Group Custom Builders (North Vancouver): with three wins took home the coveted Grand HAVAN Custom Home Builder of the Year Award, plus Best Certified High-Performance Home: New or Renovated, and Best Custom Home: $2 Million – Under $3 Million for All Decked Out.

Sarah Gallop Design Inc. (Delta): received four awards including a NEW category for 2021 Grand HAVAN Interior Designer of the Year Award, plus Best Custom Home: $3 Million and Over with builder Versa Homes (Langley), Best Renovation: $400,000 – $699,999 with Best Builders (Delta) for Belle Vue, and Best Character Home Renovation with builder MKL Custom Homes Ltd. (Vancouver) for An Older But A Goodie.

My House Design Build Team (Surrey): also brought home four awards including Grand HAVAN Award for Residential Renovator of the Year, plus Best Bathroom Renovation: $35,000 and Over, Best Townhouse/Condominium Renovation: Under $250,000, and Best Renovation: Under $200,000 for Sunlit+Kits.

Other notable winners include Nick Bray Architecture Ltd with Project Mint Developments taking home four awards including Best Non-Certified High-Performance Home: New or Renovated; Excellence in Building Science Innovation in Residential Construction, Best Custom Home: $1 Million – Under $1.5 Million, and Best New Kitchen: Under $50,000 for Passive House – A Narrow Perspective.
