Association Elects 2022/2023 Executive Committee

Vancouver, BC – Members of the Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN) elected Dave Deamer, VP Construction, Polygon Homes Ltd., as their 2022/2023 Chair at HAVAN’s Annual Election Meeting online, on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.

David has overseen the construction of many multi-family residential communities working as VP Construction for Polygon Construction Management Ltd. over the past 16 years. Prior to his time at Polygon, David worked for 7+ years as a Building Envelope consultant gaining valuable industry knowledge through various new construction and restoration projects.

An active member of HAVAN since 2006, Dave has served 4 years on the Board of Directors with the last two terms in the roles of Second Vice Chair and First Vice Chair. Residing in Richmond with his wife and 3 boys, Dave continues to be involved in the community coaching/volunteering with kids sporting activities and enjoying the outdoors (skiing, camping, biking). Dave Deamer succeeds outgoing Chair, Randy Chin, Regional Manager Mortgage Specialist, RBC.

Dave spoke to the online audience reflecting on the challenges that lay ahead, observing ‘the market continues to be challenged by economic uncertainty, noting increasing interest rates, the housing supply shortage, continued supply chain issues, increasing construction costs, labour shortages, and the implementation of BC’s Energy Step Code.’ Dave addressed the importance of voting at the municipal elections on October 15, and HAVAN’s Bringing It Home campaign, aimed at helping inform voters across the region.

Ron Rapp, HAVAN CEO, congratulated David on his new appointment as Chair of the Board, acknowledging the 30-plus years of industry expertise he brings to the position, and welcomed all new and returning members to the 2022/2023 HAVAN Board, while offering a heartfelt thanks to retiring member Gary Mertens, Qualico Homes for his 5 plus years of service and support.

Also elected to the 2022/2023 HAVAN Executive Committee are: First Vice-Chair Henri Belisle, TQ Construction Ltd. (Burnaby); Second Vice-Chair Alisa Aragon-Lloyd – Bridgestone Financing Pros, (Vancouver); Secretary/Treasurer Chris Mould, MNP LLP, (Surrey), with Randy Chin, RBC, (Vancouver) as Past Chair.
