VANCOUVER – The finalists of the Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN) Awards for Housing Excellence have been revealed.

The awards spotlight new-home construction, renovation and design projects in the Metro Vancouver area.

HAVAN CEO Ron Rapp said housing legislation changes focused on multi-unit housing and single-family lots to help address housing disparities require the work of experienced professionals who are able to keep on top of new housing regulations and code requirements.

“It is crucial to work with knowledgeable, local builders as the proposed housing legislation is a bit of a moving goal post at the moment with the province still finalizing details, and the municipalities’ uneven adoption of these changes, and the energy-saving Step Code, from one jurisdiction to the next,” he said in a statement. “No one person builds a home these days; it takes a team. We have the professionals to build the homes, and the HAVAN Awards program is an excellent resource for homeowners to connect with builders, renovators, designers and industry professionals to help bring their next project to reality.”

This year’s HAVAN Awards, currently in its 15th year, feature 154 builders, renovators and designers competing in 60 categories. Finalists are judged by a peer-reviewed panel of builders, renovators and designers nationwide.

Winners of the HAVAN Awards for Housing Excellence will be announced at a gala on May 4 at the JW Marriott Parq Hotel in Vancouver.
