Media Release: Association Elects 2020/2021 Executive Committee

– Members of the Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN) elected Robert Griesdale, Blackfish Homes Ltd. (North Vancouver) as their 2020/2021 Chair at HAVAN’s Annual Election Meeting online, on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.

As Director of Operations at Blackfish Homes, Robert, a Red Seal certified journeyman carpenter, is passionate about building energy efficient homes, using the latest in green technologies. Under Robert’s leadership Blackfish Homes has produced Georgie and HAVAN Awards for Housing Excellence winning projects.

An active member of HAVAN since 2008, Robert has served four years on the Board of Directors with the last two terms in the roles of Second Vice Chair and First Vice Chair. He also is the Second Vice Chair of the HAVAN Reno Council, who focus on organizing educational seminars and round tables to mentor industry peers. Residing in North Vancouver with his wife, 2 kids and 3 dogs, Robert enjoys mountain biking, hiking, skiing and is a general outdoor enthusiast. Griesdale succeeds outgoing Chair, Mark Cooper, President of Shakespeare Homes and Renovations Inc.

Griesdale spoke to the online audience reflecting on the challenges that lay ahead with COVID-19, the provincial election, lack of affordable housing supply, and global pressures impacting increasing lumber costs, to name a few issues, noting ‘HAVAN is focused on working with industry stakeholders to find solutions to meet the housing needs in our communities, while supporting our members as they face the prevailing economic issues. Collectively, HAVAN works to provide advocacy on behalf of members and for the communities where our members build, plus education for our members and homeowners, to ensure people build it right, the first time.’

Also elected to the 2020/2021 HAVAN Executive Committee are: First Vice-Chair Randy Chin, RBC Financial, (Vancouver); Second Vice-Chair Dave Deamer, Polygon Homes (Vancouver); Secretary/Treasurer Avtar Johl, Platinum Group of Companies, (Surrey), with Mark Cooper, Shakespeare Homes and Renovations Inc., (North Vancouver) as Past Chair.
