News Release: Covid-19 update

HAVAN staff has been monitoring the rapidly changing situation with the Covid-19 virus and although the local risk appears low in our area, the environment around us is changing.

As of 3:30pm March 12, 2020, the Honorable Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, on the advice of medical experts, is directing all event organizers to cancel all gatherings larger than 250 people.

HAVAN encourages the safety measure of social distancing protocols and is taking steps to ensure the protection of our members and their communities and families.

Based on this newly realized information, all major HAVAN events from now through to April 30 are revised as follows.

Tuesday, March 24        Home Buying 101 Forum Panels – online only
Thursday, March 26      Builders Breakfast Series (BBS) with BC Housing – postponed
Saturday, April 4           Home Ren Show @ VanDusen Garden – postponed.
Wednesday, April 8       AGM, Riverway Golf Course. – postponed.

Tickets purchased for these events will be honoured for the rescheduled date.

All committee meetings are to be held via videoconference only.

The HAVAN office will remain open. Staff will be working from home where possible, available via phone, email, and virtual meetings. HAVAN is discouraging face to face meetings, and unannounced walk-ins to the office.

We thank you for your patience and support as we monitor and evaluate all HAVAN events, updating membership as information is known, on a situation that is changing hourly.
